SEW Eurodrive is taking the technology of the digital transformation to the next level with innovative software solutions for agile and adaptable factory processes.
Under the umbrella brand Maxolution connected, Sew Eurodrive is developing a comprehensive portfolio of innovative software solutions for the digital transformation and IT integration in the smart factory. The trigger and target values for this development came from global megatrends such as digitalization – and the changed requirements and new guidelines for every branch of industry that have followed.
SEW Eurodrive is facing up to these challenges with innovative software solutions, and is implementing future-proof smart factories by combining automation technology and digitalization. The company’s edge devices enable access to the central broker with a standardized, open MQTT interface for data coupling and for connecting the shop-floor automation to the overarching IT level. The aim is to achieve the highest possible level of transparency in the processes thanks to complete 3D visualization. This digital twin maps the entire value creation chain in the production area.
The entire system process from planning to the startup and run-up phase is displayed using simulation/emulation in 3D. System statuses from the past can be reconstructed intelligently using a cloud solution or by saving them to in-house servers. The end-to-end system data is available long-term, providing the basis for machine learning.
The Maxolution connected software modules can be custom combined and integrated specifically to meet customer requirements and applications. They are used in systems with free-moving transport systems, such as automated guided vehicles, and autonomous mobile robots, as well as in track-guided systems, overhead trolley systems, skillets, and stationary materials handling technology.
The “Production Logistics” module has been available since early 2023. It consists of the fleet manager, track designer, and vehicle software modules for coordinating the entire vehicle fleet of mobile transport and assistance systems. The first applications have already been successfully implemented in the automotive sector. According to the manufacturer, the fully comprehensive portfolio will be available by 2025.
